Etiquette Rules for Primary and Secondary Schools in Chengdu

  1. When participating in the national flag raising and lowering ceremonies, maintain standard appearance and solemn demeanor, stand at attention with hat off, and perform the team salute or attention salute; sing the national anthem seriously, accurately, with loud and passionate voice.

  2. Maintain a dignified appearance, appropriate attire, clean and tidy, in line with student identity. No makeup, no accessories.

  3. Sit upright, stand straight, walk steadily, and behave politely in speech and manner.

  4. Use standard language, speak Mandarin, use polite words: please, you, hello, thank you, sorry, it's okay, goodbye, etc.

  5. Use good body language: smile, nod, bow, shake hands, wave, clap, yield to the right, stand up to answer questions, stand up and use both hands when delivering or receiving items.

  6. Respect teachers. When seeing a teacher, smile, greet softly, and take the initiative to say hello; when class starts and ends, stand up to give attention salute to the teacher; in class, raise your hand before speaking, stand straight when answering questions; after class, when entering the teacher's office or residence, call out "report" or knock gently, enter only after permission, do not casually look through the teacher's things; say goodbye to teachers and classmates when leaving school.

  8. Unite classmates. Care for classmates younger than yourself, do not give nicknames, prohibit bullying the weak, and do not use foul language.

  9. Be polite to guests. Treat guests with courtesy, stand up to greet them, take the initiative to greet, smile, and wave goodbye. When contacting foreign guests, be neither humble nor arrogant, and maintain dignity.

  10. Respect the elderly, weak, sick, and disabled. Give way when walking, give seats when taking a bus, let others go first when shopping, respect and help the disabled.

  11. Be punctual and trustworthy when meeting people, respect others' personality. Speak moderately, listen to others attentively, and do not interrupt others casually.

  12. Be punctual and quiet when participating in gatherings, bow to teachers, guests, and the audience before speaking at meetings, and thank after speaking.

  13. When watching performances, competitions, or listening to reports, clap appropriately. Do not make noise, do not boo, and do not leave early.

  14. In public places, do not spit casually, do not litter, do not make noise; love flowers and trees, do not scribble on cultural relics, monuments, or buildings.

  15. Do not smoke, do not drink alcohol, do not gamble, do not enter commercial electronic game halls, dance halls, discos, or internet cafes.

Practice Section

Purpose: Be a good child at home, a good student at school, and a good citizen in society

I. At Home

  1. Respect elders, be filial to parents, respect parents' opinions and teachings, often exchange thoughts and study situations with them, actively seek education and help from elders and parents, and listen to their teachings and guidance.

  2. Be caring and considerate to parents. Undertake housework within your ability, take the initiative to serve parents, express filial piety to parents, and try to lighten their burden as much as possible.

  3. Have a correct attitude towards parents. Do not contradict parents, do not lose temper, and explain parents' incorrect words and deeds appropriately and moderately.

  4. Greet parents when leaving or returning home, do not stay outside without parents' consent; take the initiative to greet and hand over items when elders leave or return home.

  5. Knock first when entering parents' room, enter only after permission. Do not casually touch parents' private items.

  6. Learn to take care of personal life, keep personal items tidy, and do not place them randomly.

  7. Live frugally, do not waste, do not show off, and do not make excessive demands beyond the family's economic conditions.

  8. Be polite to guests, when guests visit, treat them with courtesy, stand up to greet them, warmly welcome them, take the initiative to greet them, smile, and wave goodbye.

II. At School

  4. Listen attentively in class, think diligently, raise your hand before speaking, actively answer the teacher's questions, and stand straight when answering questions.

  5. Rest civilized during breaks, do not chase and fight wildly; after class, engage in civilized and healthy cultural and sports activities.

  6. After class, when entering the teacher's office or residence, call out "report" or knock gently, enter only after permission, do not casually look through the teacher's items; say goodbye to teachers and classmates when leaving school.

  7. Cherish public property and pay attention to hygiene. Do not scribble on blackboards, walls, desks, etc., keep the classroom and campus clean and beautiful.

III. In Society

  1. Observe social morality. Respect the elderly, weak, sick, disabled, and pregnant, give way when walking, give seats when taking a bus, let others go first when shopping, respect and help the disabled.

  2. Observe public order. Consciously observe traffic rules, pay attention to traffic safety, cross the road on the sidewalk, ride bicycles on the right, and do not run red lights.

  3. Cherish public facilities. Love flowers and trees, protect beneficial animals, do not damage public facilities, and do not damage cultural relics and monuments.

  4. Maintain public hygiene. Do not spit casually, do not litter.

  5. Be civilized and polite. When contacting foreign guests, be neither humble nor arrogant, and maintain national dignity.
