Flag Raising and Lowering System of Shishi Tianfu Middle School

According to the provisions in the "National Flag Law of the People's Republic of China" that "full-time schools, except for winter and summer vacations and Sundays, shall hoist the national flag every day and hold a flag-raising ceremony once a week", in order to maintain the dignity of the national flag, enhance the patriotic concept of faculty and students, and enable all teachers and students to receive profound patriotic education through the flag raising and lowering ceremony. Now, according to the relevant provisions of the "National Flag Law", the flag raising and lowering system is specially formulated.

I. The flag-raising ceremony is held during the morning exercises on Monday mornings every week (except for winter and summer vacations, and may not be held in case of bad weather or Monday holidays, but can be held indoors if special circumstances arise). Flag-raising ceremonies will also be held for major school events.

II. All teachers and students must participate in the flag-raising and lowering ceremony, line up neatly, face the national flag, and stand at attention to pay respect. Students wear school uniforms uniformly, and flag-raisers wear uniforms.

III. The flag-raising ceremony procedures are:

  1. Flag presentation. The flag bearer holds the flag, and the flag guards are on both sides of the flag bearer, marching towards the flagpole in unison to the music "Singing the Motherland". All teachers and students present gather at the designated place, stand at attention, and salute with eyes.

  2. Flag raising. Teachers and students stand at attention, face the national flag, and the flag raiser raises the national flag slowly to the majestic national anthem. Young Pioneers salute with the Pioneer salute, and other teachers and students salute with eyes. When raising the flag, the national flag must be raised to the top of the pole. During the flag-raising ceremony, no one may move around at will or whisper, to ensure the solemnity of the ceremony (as long as the national anthem is played, all personnel must stand at attention; if an activity or competition is in progress, it should be immediately suspended until the national anthem ends).

  3. Sing the national anthem. All teachers and students sing with loud and passionate voices, creating a solemn atmosphere.

  4. Speech under the national flag. After the flag is raised, the principal, administrative leaders, other teachers, and excellent students take turns to give speeches. The content of the speech should be educational, inspiring, and uplifting, with strong solemnity and educational nature.

IV. From Tuesday to Friday, the flag raisers and flag guards are selected by the duty class to take turns. Flag raisers and flag guards can only perform flag-raising tasks after strict training.

V. When raising the flag from Tuesday to Friday, all teachers and staff on campus should consciously stand at attention, and can move freely only after the flag is raised and lowered completely.

VI. Every evening, the flag raisers and flag guards of the duty class lower the flag according to Article 16 of the "National Flag Law"; the national flag must not touch the ground when being lowered.

VII. The duty class selects eight students to be on duty at the East Gate and South Gate every morning. Students must wear school uniforms, be dignified in appearance, and greet teachers in unison when they enter the school.

VIII. The duty class shall truthfully fill in the flag-raising ceremony registration form and establish flag-raising ceremony files.

IX. The national flag must be cherished, and damaged, defiled, faded, or unqualified national flags shall not be hoisted; if any of the above situations occur, the national flag shall be replaced immediately.

X. When raising the flag, stop all work in hand and salute facing the national flag.
